Data Edge Intern Blog

Cup of Coffee

Cup of Coffee

Two months up already! Everything has gone by so fast. I’ve met more new people and drank more cups of coffee in the last 8 weeks than I have in the past 22 years.
My name is James and I’m a Business student at DCU. But more importantly, for the next year I’m a Marketing Intern here at Data Edge.

Interning at Data Edge has provided me with a great opportunity. An opportunity I know other interns across the country would kill for! I’m working for a company recognised as setting the industry standard for what they do. It’s a great honour to be a part of that. But it’s also a great challenge. A challenge I’m jumping at!
Upon arriving for my first day I was to be greeted warmly by the Data Edge team. Brian, Paul, Carol, Paul, Eilieen and Paul (yes we do have 3 Pauls working here and yes it does get confusing). From day one I was never treated as what you would consider a “typical intern”. I was never asked to make the tea or do the filing as you might expect. Instead I was immediately brought on as part of the team and treated as an equal. I was given my own desk which I was told “to make my own” and even a shiny new laptop on which I’m currently writing this blog on. From day one I’ve had high hopes for my time here and I haven’t been let down. Desk
My typical day starts with a cup of coffee and a scan through the latest news and articles on technology related websites such as Tech Central and Silicon Republic. I update our followers on Twitter and LinkedIn with the goings on at Data Edge. Then I begin work on one of projects we have in the pipelines for Data Edge (watch this space!).
I have big plans for my time here at Data Edge. I look forward to growing and developing with the business.
If you’d like stay up to date with us here at Data Edge or are feeling social and want to drop us a message then connect with us on LinkedIn and follow us on Twitter. I’d love to hear from you!
Looking forward to working with you in the future,
James
