Description

The VNA Master MS2038C is the industry’s highest performance Handheld Vector Network Analyzer with frequency coverage from 5 kHz to 20 GHz PLUS a Spectrum Analyzer covering 9 kHz to 20 GHz. The VNA Master MS2038C is a compact handheld multi-function instrument that offers a portable yet powerful vector network analyzer, allowing you to do S-parameter analysis in the field… anytime, anywhere.

The MS2038C also offers a high-performance spectrum analyzer with industry-leading ultra-low noise floor. Based on Anritsu’s 8th generation handheld platform, the MS2038C offers unmatched measurement breadth, depth, and precision, reducing the number of different tools needed to analyze modern communication systems in the field, on a tower, on a flight line, or in a vehicle.

Equally impressive, this measurement tool offers the industry’s first 12-term error correction algorithm in a handheld VNA. With a typical measurement speed of 350 µsec per point, this is ideally suited for tuning filters in the field, where multiple S-parameters often interact during tuning. Using a 3-receiver architecture, the MS2038C can measure and display all 4 S-parameters at once with with a single connection to the DUT.

RF engineers and technicians in the field provide installation and maintenance support for aerospace, defense, and general purpose communication systems around the world. These might typically include radars on Navy and Coast Guard ships, communications on Army vehicles, flight-line test on Air Force, Marine, and commercial jets. They support VHF Omni-directional Range (VOR) antennas in radio navigational systems globally. They will be routinely faced with a wide variety of system elements that can cause failures in the overall system: antennas, cables, filters, multiplexers, amplifiers, isolators, circulators, switches, and other sophisticated elements.

VNA Master also serves in new high technology applications such as radome/dielectric tests in the field. Its VNA error-correction functions vital to innovative test fixtures for dielectrics, laminates, ferrites, lossy paints, and more, offered by manufacturers such as Damaskos, Inc. At the test site, the systems contain sophisticated transmitters and receivers, which require characterisation of their complex transmitter and receiver (LO) signals for proper performance. These comprehensive signal tests increase the job complexity for the maintenance technician, on top of the VNA tests already needed. A field-friendly spectrum analyser can greatly simplify this task. Spectrum analysis data are especially critical in microwave systems such as radars, defense electronics and communication systems up to 20 GHz.

The MS2038C VNA Master + Spectrum Analyser adds a powerful spectrum diagnostic capability in the field to the already powerful MS2028C VNA Master! Don’t let the small footprint fool you; this combined instrument powerhouse offers performance and features that rival bench-top alternatives for simplifying spectrum monitoring, interference analysis, and other general purpose signal measurements in the field. A built-in pre-selector eliminates confusing spurious responses when doing interference test with many signals. They deliver a 30 MHz capture bandwidth, 10 MHz RBW and blazing fast sweep speeds, resulting from better data acquisition and computation.

These new models offer significant new features such as an internal routine which optimises sweeps at the fastest possible speed for the most accurate data displays. The VNA Master offers broad spectrum analysis frequency coverage, impressive dynamic range, and excellent phase noise performance from 9 kHz to 20 GHz. Applications include field tests for backhaul microwave, or for measurements of the critical 5th harmonic of 3G base stations.

The VNA Master + Spectrum Analyser includes many one-button standard measurement sequences, including field strength, occupied bandwidth, channel power, adjacent channel power ratio, and carrier to interference (C/I) ratio. In addition, the built-in AM/FM/SSB demodulator simplifies the task of identifying interfering signals. Overall, the VNA Master + Spectrum Analyser is a powerful handheld tool for general purpose spectrum analysis anywhere, anytime. Option 0025, Interference Analyser is particularly valuable for revealing co-location signal problems.
